Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) to offer admissions to interested candidates in various undergraduate as well as professional courses, offered by different colleges in the state of Karnataka.

Karnataka Examinations Authority is conducting the Common'Entrance Test-2O18 as per the following schedule for admission to the First year or First semester Engineering, Technology, Farm Science c,ourses i.e., courses i.e., Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (13.V.Sc. & A.H.), B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Sc. (Sericulture), B.Sc (Horliculture), B.Sc (lrorestry), B.Sc. Agri Bio Tech, B.H.Sc.(Home Science), B.Tech (Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B,F.Sc (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science Tech)., B.Sc. (Agri. Marketing & Co-Op), B.Pharm, Pharm-D and AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani and Homoeopathy) courses forthe year 2018-19.

For admission to Medical and Dental courses candidates have to appear for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) - 2018 conducted by CBSE

For admission to Architecture course candidates have to appear for JEE Paper -2 or NIATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture.

KCET 2018 Eligibility

For Engineering / Technology courses

  • Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination (QE) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study are eligible to apply for KCET exam.
  • Aspirants who have secured minimum of 45% marks in the optional subjects in the QE are eligible for to apply for Engineering/Technology courses (40% for QE in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC category candidates).
  • The marks obtained by a candidate in Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science in the QE, will be considered in place of Chemistry in case the marks obtained by him/her Chemistry are lesser than what the required aggregate percentage. However, this will be done only for the purpose of determination of eligibility and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of Engineering / Technology courses.
  • The Engineering rank list will be prepared and published based on the candidate’s performance in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in both KCET 2018 as well as QE wherein the marks of each exam will be taken in equal proportion.
  • For (BTech) Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Food Science and Technology, Bachelor of Fishery Science, and BSc in Agriculture Marketing and Co-operation course.
  • KCET 2018 eligibility criteria for the above mentioned courses states that candidates can apply for these courses if they have passed their qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects.
  • Also, based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology subjects in both CET and QE by taking the marks in equal proportions, common rank list will be prepared and published separately for admission.

For BTech in Agriculture Engineering course

  • The eligibility criteria for KCET exam mentions that aspirants must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects.
  • Common rank list will be prepared and published based on the candidate’s performance in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in both CET and QE wherein the marks of each exam are taken in equal proportion.

For Architecture course

  • Candidates who have cleared their QE with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects are eligible to apply for KCET 2018.
  • Aspirants who have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in all the subjects in their QE meet the eligibility criteria for Architecture course in KCET. However, in case of SC, ST, Category-I, OBC candidates, and persons with disability of mental retardation or mental illness including dyslexia, this percentage criterion stands at 45% marks. 
  • The Architecture rank list will be prepared and published based on the candidate’s performance in the QE as well as Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). Herein, the rank list will be made by taking the marks of both these exams in equal proportion.

For Medical /Dental courses

  • Admissions to such courses will be strictly based on the eligibility norms of the entrance examination for Medical and Dental courses-NEET, and the directions of the state government. This will become the base of deciding the academic eligibility and the determination of merit for the admissions.
